The Courses :
Despite its youth, the Grand Saint-Emilionnais Golf Club opened in 2015, has already become a mature course. Designed by the American architects Tom Doak, it is owned by the Mourgue d’Algues family.
Suffice to say that the golf course has been thought out by people who are knowledgable on the subject. In this magical setting, everything has been created so that the course blends perfectly with nature. Starting positions have been replaced with gravel, waste bins hidden in the ground, the lay-out of this course and the natural setting of the site are of an exceptional quality. The irrigation of the course is done using only rainwater, collected in two large artificial lakes, and the turf is eco-responsible using fescue grass seed, requiring very low levels of water and fertiliser.
Surrounding Area :
Only 10 km from the town of Saint Emilion, a Unesco world heritage site. It’s easy to fall under the charm of the medieval town of Saint Emillion, with splendid stone buildings, quaint cobbled streets, and monolithic church – unique in Europe. Here wine is a bywords for heritage!
A few km away you can discover the vineyards that make the region one of the most prestigious wine making places in the world, with the wines of Château Angelus, Château Ausone, Château Cheval Blanc, Château Pavie and many other châteaux of Saint Emilion.
SVM GOLF-TRAVEL Tips:
Why not try some speciality dishes ‘Lamb Pauillac’ or a ‘Steak bordelaise’ on one of the many pretty terraces in Saint Emilion. Not to be missed for those with a sweet-tooth the inescapable macaron, (sweet meringue-based confection), a local specialty.
